For the first time ever, the Blaugrana are set to visit Dortmund’s home and coach Lucien Favre and club captain Marco Reus are excited for what’s coming up.
In the history of Borussia Dortmund’s UEFA Champions League participation, the team had never hosted one of the biggest clubs in Europe: Barcelona.
But that will change tomorrow when both teams play each other at Sigma Iduma Park.
2We’re obviously excited to be playing against Barcelona,” said coach Lucien Favre on Monday according to the team’s official website.
“In 1991, I spent two weeks shadowing Johan Cruyff. That definitely inspired me.”
BVB captain Marco Reus added: “I’ve had a couple of conversations with Paco [Alcacer]. He is coolness personified.”
“It will be a great experience for him and I hope that he can help us get a result tomorrow.”
“He’s an important player for us – an ice-cold finisher who only needs one chance to score, which explains his incredible goal record,” he added.
“We’re facing a difficult match tomorrow. We need to be switched on.”
“We have to make our mark going forward, find ways to create chances and, of course, score goals,” Reus concluded.
