Zinedine Zidane wants Pogba to join him at the Bernabeu but does he need the French midfielder with Fede Valverde in Los Blancos dressing room.

Real Madrid plucked Premier League’s best player, Eden Hazard, from Chelsea this past summer. And it looks likely that the second highest paid midfielder in English top flight football, Paul Pobga, is also on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu.

It is an easy signing on the paper. The best club in world football wants to have the best players in its ranks. There is no doubt about Pogba’s mercurial talents. The Manchester United youth academy graduate looks a sullen figure at Old Trafford. And he wants to move away from England.

A partnership with Juventus has been mooted. But it is in the Spanish capital that his heart is set. Pogba wants to play under Zinedine Zidane. The rumor mill went into a frenzy when the French legend returned to Bernabeu and it has not stopped since.

No need for another midfielder

No deal was reached in the summer transfer window and it looks unlikely that Pogba will move in January. However, with Fede Valverde making his mark on Real Madrid first team, is there a need for the world cup winner.

Valverde has been inspirational for Los Blancos this season. When he plays, Real Madrid are a different team. And when he is missing from the first team, there is a marked difference.

It should not come as a surprise that the Uruguayan midfielder was voted the best player in the Spanish Super Cup final. Valverde has become an integral part of the first team and there is more to come from him.

With Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos alongside him, Valverde has been given various roles to fulfill. And the 21-year-old has finalized these tasks to perfection.

While Karim Benzema has led from the front, it is Fede Valverde whose tireless efforts stabilized Madrid.

In these circumstances, it makes little sense for Los Blancos to get in the market for an extremely expensive midfielder. Moreover, Real already have a bloated midfield.

Los Blancos need to get rid of at least three players to have a balanced squad. The center of the pitch should be least of their worries when there are other areas that need reinforcement.

Zidane wants Pogba but Perez is keeping his cards close to him. Especially when they have youth academy graduates lining up outside their dressing room.
