Rio Ferdinand admits that he Nemanja Vidic and David Moyes had some heated discussion, but the Phil Jagielka video story is just not true.

There have been plenty of stories that circulated about David Moyes’ ill-fated tenure at Manchester United.

Perhaps the funniest of all was Moyes asking arguably one of the Premier League’s most accomplished and best defenders to watch a film of one of his old Everton players Phil Jagielka.

Ferdinand has now lifted the lid on his relationship with Moyes and the “videogate” story.

Speaking on a BBC podcast, the retired England center back admits his relationship with Moyes had its moments, but the video story is merely a myth.

Ferdidnad said:

“I don’t know where that came from, to be honest, that’s something that never happened.”

“Listen, Phil Jagielka was a very good player. I’m sure he wouldn’t have shown us videos of Phil of how we should be doing this and that.”

“But I don’t know where that came from. That’s just some mad tale that’s come out of nowhere.”

“Someone has dreamed that up and it’s become a great meme.”

“To be fair, we did have some heated discussions if I’m being honest. There were a few heated meetings between myself, Vida, and David Moyes.”

“We didn’t agree with certain things and the certain ways things were being done.”

Perhaps if Moyes had been able to retain the confidence and taken on board some of the Manchester United ways from arguably one of the Premier League’s greatest defenders, he may have survived more than ten months at the helm of Manchester United.
