Rio Ferdinand claims Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s mind is made up over his Arsenal future, with an exit looming for the Gunners’ captain.
Aubameyang was the star of the day as Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea and lift the FA Cup.
Two goals in either half for the Gunners’ captain saw the forward prove why he’s one of the very best around.
Aubameyang is yet to renew his contract with his current deal set to run out at the end of next summer. Should he fail to renew this summer, the Gunners could end up losing him for free.
After the game, the Gabonese international shrugged off questions when he was asked about his future.
“I’m not thinking about this, I’m going to celebrate with my team-mates.”
Mikel Arteta is still optimistic that the experience of lifting the FA Cup will help convince Aubameyang to stay put long-term.
But Man United legend Rio Ferdinand thinks the response and reaction of the Arsenal man means he might have decided to leave already.
Ferdinand said as per the Daily Mail: “I think he’s [Aubameyang] gone from that reaction. He’s already decided.”
“I’m going to enjoy this with my team-mates” – he sounds like someone who is going elsewhere.”
“Arsenal need to do all they can to keep him. He was unbelievable, Jesus. But the arsenal fans adore him. Is he going to find that elsewhere in his career?”
Chelsea legend Joe Cole also weighed in and believes Aubameyang should leave the club.
Cole said: “If I’m him and the big boys come in, I’m going. I want to win big trophies.”
Aubameyang is expected to make a decision over his future in the coming weeks.
