Rio Ferdinand has heaped praised on Mason Greenwood for his display of an extraordinary level of confidence.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shipped off striker Romelu Lukaku to Italy at the start of the season while deciding to put his faith in the club’s academy players.
Solskjaer’s decision has bore fruit. Having scored 12 goals in 36 games across all competitions, Mason Greenwood has enjoyed an impressive breakout season so far.
The 18-year old has already started to make a name for himself as he earlier became the club’s youngest player to score in a European competition.
And Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is amazed by how well he has settled in the team while praising Greenwood for his decisiveness in the final third.
“Have you seen what this kid is doing?!” Ferdinand said on Instagram.
“Left foot, right foot, bang. The ball is hitting the back of the net, that is how he moves. Every level he has gone into, that is the key, every level he has played he has looked unfazed and stepped up to it easily. Like with pure, pure ease. He has just done it.
“He just looks around ‘Old Trafford? This is me, I’m meant to be here.’ That is the vibe I get from him. You can’t put a price on that, that cold-hearted calm confidence is just mad.”
