Juventus need three points against Sampdoria to mathematically ensure their ninth successive Serie A title, but should not expect a handout from the visitors.
Sampdoria travels to Allianz Stadium for their late Sunday night Serie A fixture against Juventus.
The Old Lady needs three points to ensure against all possibilities and claim Serie A honors.
Maurizio Sarri will have prepared his men, but ahead of the match Sampdoria president, Massimo Ferrero, reflected his side will not go out to make up the numbers.
Ferrero expects Sampdoria to give a good account of their abilities and will not be pushovers.
“We are not sacrificial lambs for anyone, nor are we already on our summer vacation,” Football Italia reported Ferrero telling Libero newspaper.
“I wish to make that clear to anyone who considers the three points guaranteed for Juventus. Nothing could be further from the truth! We want to continue the run of victories we had in recent weeks.”
“We are going to Turin to play our game and we want to win. It’s one thing to beat a team around the relegation zone and quite another to defeat the champions of Italy.”
“Beating a side like Juve on their own turf, that would really be special and Samp making a statement.”
Sampdoria is 14th in Serie A rankings and a win can see them rise 12th if other results go in their favor.
