The Dutch club defeated Fortuna Sittard in the Quarterfinals of the KNVB Cup to recover from a 3-1 lost against Zwolle in the local tournament.

Feyenoord FC is currently in the third place of the Dutch Eredivisie table with 36 points.

The team has 11 victories in 18 matches, drawing three times, and losing only four.

But their good run was interrupted by a 3-1 defeat against Zwolle last week.

This is why the 4-1 win against Fortuna Sittard in the Dutch KNVB Cup was very special for the team.

“Mission accomplished,” coach Giovanni Van Bronckhorst told the club’s official website.

“Robin [van Persie] was very good and very important for the team today. Whether he can play against Ajax on Sunday? I assume so.”

“We have now played midweek on Wednesday rather than Thursday, so that gives him an extra day to recover,” he added.

“They had the first two big chances, which were created because we were not properly positioned when they broke. Kenneth kept us level in those situations.”

“After the first half an hour we went up a gear and took control of the match. We earned this victory, based on how many chances we made,” he commented.

“It’s great to be in the semi-final again, but we haven’t won anything yet.”

Feyenoord FC will play against AZ, Willem II or Ajax in the tournament’s Semifinal.
