Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis has expressed his desire to retire at the club if the club offers him a long-term deal.

The Brazilian left-back’s contract is set to end in June and an agreement is yet to be reached by the two parties.

“When I came back from Chelsea, I planned to retire at Atletico Madrid,” he told Globosporte.

“I was 30 years old and I would end that contract at 33 or 34.”I would renew for another two or three years and then I would be working at Atletico Madrid; that would be perfect for me.

“But we know that in football things can change and Atleti have a rule, in quotation marks, of only renewing for one year [for] those [players] who are over 30.

Hasselbaink hopes Griezmann picks Chelsea over Barcelona

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink would love to see Antoine Griezmann take on a fresh challenge at Chelsea rather than head off to Barcelona.

“They promised me, in front of the group, that at the end of the market they will make an effort and offer a renewal.

“I hope that Atleti will offer me a contract of two or three years, so that I can finish my career here, but it depends on the club.”
