The Brazilian attacking midfielder grew up watching Real Madrid and he used to look up to Los Merengues for inspiration
Fiorentina midfielder Gerson Santos da Silva has recently joined the Italian Lega Serie A club on a loan, playing in only one match so far.
The attacking midfielder made his debut for Fluminense in Brazil in 2014, after being transferred in 2016 to Roma and then being loaned to Fiorentina.
And the 21-year-old spoke to Fiorentina News about how he used to be inspired by the Real Madrid players.
“In the Fluminense youths, I started from the middle. Then I was advanced in the role of an external attacker. But I love being a midfielder,” he said.
“[Luka] Modric and [Toni] Kroos [are my idols]. But as a kid, I grew crazy for Robinho. A genius. I could watch movies for hours with his technical gestures.”
“I do not care to indicate a number [of goals I’ll score as a midfielder]. I could also stop at two as long as Fiorentina disputes a great championship. The group effort counts not the single.”
