Junior Firpo has claimed that he is not ready to give up his place to Jordi Alba after his return.

Barcelona left-back Jordi Alba has been out of the squad since the last month. The Spaniard suffered an injury in the match against Slavia Prague which has seen him out of action till now.

Following Aba’s injury, Junior Firpo has been playing on the left-back position. The 23-year old has had a decent run of matches but fears that he will soon be not getting any minutes.

As reported by Marca, Junior Firpo hailed that Jordi Alba as the best partner for Leo Messi. The Spaniard also suggested that he was having a good time playing with the Barcelona first team.

“I think Jordi Alba is the best partner for Messi on the left. They’ve been playing together for many years,” Junior Firpo said.

“In recent games, myself and Messi have tried to find each other more. We are at the point of getting to know each other and improving.

“When Jordi Alba comes back, it will be hard to be a backup again and when we are both 100 percent it’ll be the coach who decides who plays.

“Physically, I feel good. The last few months have been hard because of the change in style of play and also playing next to the best, which demands a high level.
