Chelsea is up to third in the Premier League after beating Crystal Palace three-two at Selhurst Park.

It looked like it was going to be an easy night’s work for Frank Lampards Chelsea when they ran out to a two-goal lead in less than 30 minutes.

There were only six minutes on the clock when Olivier Giroud opened the scoring. Palace defender Cahil pulled up injured and Willian was not about to put the ball out of play.

The Brazilian charged forward unchallenged and set up World Cup winner Giroud to get the blues off to a flying start.

Then in the 27th minute inform Christian Pulisic hit a rising shot that found the back of the net.

The game appeared all but over already, however, nobody told Palace. Wilfried Zaha hit an absolute screamer and possible contender for goal of the season in the 34th minute.

The match was end to end with both sides creating plenty of opportunities.

It was, however, Tammy Abraham who extended the visitors lead in the 71st minutes, only for Benteke to reply for the Eagles less than 60 seconds later.

Three- two was how it finished.

Chelsea will be glad to open the gap up on United back to five points and leapfrog Leicester into third at least for the tie being.

Roy Hodgson’s Palace will feel aggrieved as to how they conceded the first goal and to not have taken something from the game.
