Immobile’s penalty record ends
The Italian has scored a stunning 17 goals in just 14 league outings this season to put him comfortably ahead of his nearest rivals in the Serie A scoring charts. However, Juventus were at least able to keep Ciro Immobile goal-dry.
The Lazio man was a threat throughout the match, and nearly scored the opener inside five minutes only for Matthijs de Ligt to block his deflected shot.
But Immobile continued to cause problems, and nearly won a penalty for Juan Cuadrado bringing him down in the area. He later headed a Manuel Lazzari cross wide.
Immobile then blew his golden chance for an 18th goal as Wojciech Szczesny denied him from the spot late on. It ended the striker’s run of scoring 12 penalties in a row, with his last miss back in October 2017.
