VAR intervention hands Cuadrado a red
With over twenty minutes of play left, Cuadrado took out Manuel Lazzari as the Lazio man had a clean run through on goal.
But it looked like the Colombian had got away with it when the referee produced a yellow card for the foul. However, VAR intervened and automatically changed that Cuadrado’s punishment to a straight red.
“I do not entirely agree that it was a clear scoring opportunity, as the ball was going wide,” Sarri told DAZN.
“I thought a yellow card was the right ruling, as the red was a little harsh, but the fact remains that is out of our control and we made a mistake to create the situation in the first place.”
It’s fair to say that moment changed everything, with Lazio scoring two goals to snatch a memorable victory.
