Rashford proves Mourinho wrong

The Portuguese coach never had any faith in Rashford as a No.9, and always placed him down the wings in his time in charge of United.

“He is not the target man, he doesn’t score as many goals as a striker should do,” Mourinho said in September.

“So I think from the side you will get him to numbers of 10-12 goals per season.”

But Rashford has already taken his tally up to nine goals and four assists in 15 Premier League matches this term.

The 22-year-old was sensational on Wednesday, with his early goal catching out Spurs keeper Gazzaniga. He then scored from the spot to take his tally to within just one goal of his career-best.

Moreover, Rashford has hit the target 12 times in his last 13 games for club and country.
