Former Leipzig manager doesn’t want Werner to leave

For Ralf Rangnick the player should consider extending his contract amidst rumors he will leave the Bundesliga side soon.

Ralf Rangnick is leaving his position as RB Leipzig manager to work as head of sports and development football at Red Bull.

But before he leaves his team, he wants his star player Timo Werner to stay, amidst rumors he might leave to Bayern Munich or Liverpool.

“My opinion is that Timo fits best here, also in terms of style of play,” Rangnick was quoted by Goal.

“If I were his advisor or father, I would clearly advise him to stay and extend his contract.”

“When a really big club comes in for him and he wants to leave, he can still do that,” he added.

“Timo is of the opinion that he does not want to extend the contract.”

Official: Christopher Nkunku leaves PSG for RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig have confirmed their capture of midfielder Christopher Nkunku from French champions Paris Saint-Germain in a €15m deal.

“So far, no club has reported their interest or said they would speak with Timo and want to sign him,” he said.

“It’s not a good idea for Timo to go into the final year of his contract, which could be difficult for his relationship with the fans depending on how his performance turns out.”

“It would be a shame because since he joined he has become a crowd pleaser,” Rangnick concluded.
