Steve Nicol feels Sadio Mane would find it hard to turn down Real Madrid if they come calling.

Sadio Mane has had a very eventful 2019 with Liverpool.

The Senegalese ended Liverpool’s trophy drought after playing a key role in their Champions League triumph last season. He also reached his personal best after ending the Premier League with 22 goals to his name. Mane’s exploits saw him finishing 4th in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

Sadio Mane’s noise of success has reached the Santiago Bernabeu as rumors indicate the Real Madrid are preparing to put on the famous white jersey on him.

Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol, while suggesting that he looks like someone with a long-term plan at Anfield, feels Mane could be tempted to think hard if Real Madrid knock on his door.

“When it comes to Real Madrid, anything’s possible. Players, when they’re linked with Real Madrid, their eyes light up,” Nicol told ESPN FC.

“If he’s thinking about his career on the field of play, he’s staying with Liverpool because Liverpool will win the Premier League title this year and could do for some years to come.

“They’re certainly going to be challenging in the Champions League. If that’s what he’s all about then he stays, but if it’s the whole ‘Real Madrid thing’ then it’s possible.

“It’s not happening in the summer but after that, I wouldn’t count it out.”
