Harry Maguire has been hotly linked with a move away from Leicester this summer and Danny Simpson believes that the defender will be a success in Manchester.

Danny Simpson spent around two years playing football with Harry Maguire. The Englishman believes that his former teammates is one of the best defenders in the world at the moment.

Harry Maguire is currently attracting a lot of interest from the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City. A move away from the Foxes seems more and more likely with each passing day. Reportedly, the defender has been the subject of a big money offer from Manchester United.

The Red Devils are keen on shoring up their defense and believe that Harry Maguire is the man to do that.

While Manchester City are still keen on the England international, it appears that the Red Devils have stolen the march ahead of their bitter rivals.

And Danny Simpson has backed his former teammate to succeed at either of the Manchester clubs.

He told talkSPORT: “I’m not surprised that United and City are in for him. For me he’s one of the best defenders.

“He’s a top lad and he’s only going to get better. He’s improving, he’s a leader and he can be wherever he wants to be.

“The way he brings the ball out from the back and organises everyone is quality.

“He wants to go all the way to the top and I think if he does go to one of those two teams, he’ll kick on straight away and take it in his stride.”

And being a product of Manchester United’s academy, Simpson naturally wants Harry Maguire to sign for his former club.

“I’m a United fan so I’m a bit biased,” added Simpson.

“But United want to get back to the top and City have lost Kompany.

“Wherever he is this season he’s going to improve that team.”
