Rafael da Silva is impressed by Fred for being able to turn things around after a poor start to his Manchester United career.
Manchester United midfielder Fred‘s current season has been a huge redemption arc.
Jose Mourinho had high hopes when he signed him for a hefty €59 million from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 but a string of poor performances by the Brazilian left then-manager disappointed. Fred struggled to settle in his new team and was limited to just 17 matches in the Premier League.
This season, however, Fred has managed to step up his performances. Having played in 25 league outings, he has been an integral part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s revamped United side.
And Rafael da Silva is happy to see his fellow countryman finally enjoying his time at Old Trafford.
Speaking on the club’s official website, the former Man United fullback also suggests the 27-year old could prove to be his side’s most significant player this season.
“I’ve been very impressed, because, in the beginning, I heard a lot of comments about him. ‘Ah, he’s no good’ or things like that,” Rafael told.
“I like what he did because it’s about mentality as well. He’s just turned everything around.
“Maybe he can be our best player at Manchester this season. We can see he’s a great player.”
