Edinson Cavani’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and Jean-Pierre Papin believes he should be playing more.

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani was signed by Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 after three years of playing for Napoli.

And since he started playing for PSG he has scored 198 goals in 292 matches.

But he’s not playing so much right now, and for legendary Marseille forward Jean-Pierre Papin, the Uruguayan should be playing more.

“I really like Cavani, I think leaving him on the bench is a waste!” he told the French Ligue 1’s official website.

“For me the best out and out number nine… is Cavani!”

Papi also talked about Dembele: “I’m a big fan. He’s a team player, he’s good in the air, he runs in behind defenses.”

“He’s big and strong so can play with his back to the goal! I don’t think Lyon uses him as an out and out number nine enough!”

Papin concluded: “For decades, their football has been possession-based, using two wingers, but when you’ve got a number nine like Dembele, you want every attack to end at his feet!”
