French Ligue 1 transfer updates

The storm in Ligue 1 is gathering speed as teams look to wrap up their transfer business early in a bid to give new players more time to settle.

Ligue 1 is unlikely to be a one-horse race next season. Paris Saint-Germain may continue improving but it is clear that rivals are catching up. Most notably, Olympique Lyon have been the most active. The club is doing all sorts of necessary recruitment and with Juninho back at the club, things are definitely looking up.

Lyon edge closer to Thiago Mendes signing

According to RMC, the Ligue 1 giants are set to complete a move for talented Brazilian Thiago Mendes from Lille OSC. Sylvinho is a huge fan of the 27 year old midfielder and the club is going to pay Les Dogues €25 million for the talented midfielder.

This is definitely the most exciting summer Lyon fans have seen in ages. The club has already signed Jean Lucas from Flamengo and the president has also refused to sell any of his star players apart from Ferland Mendy.

Should we expect Les Gones to challenge for the Ligue 1 title? Might be a real possibility.

PSG offer rumors denied

Lazio have denied reports that they were approached by the Ligue 1 giants over the availability of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

“There is nothing to say, because there is no discussion. I don’t know anything about it. We are in no pressure to sell him. These are just newspaper rumors. I cannot talk about something that is not concrete or real,” sporting director, Igli Tare said while speaking to Parisian.

Mandanda signs contract extension

French keeper, Over Mandanda has signed a contract extension with Girondins de Bordeaux. The  young custodian has inked a deal that will keep him at the club until June 2021. Over Mandanda is the youngest brother of World Cup winner, Steve Mandanda and is tipped for a bright future.
