It’s impressive how many French players are playing in top leagues all over Europe and have become huge stars for their respective clubs.

The new season has already started in many countries around the world and many clubs have a lot of French players in their squads. The likes of England, Spain, Italy and a few teams in South and Central America boast a good number of French players in their respective squads who did very well on the opening day.

Goalkeeper: Romain Salin

The veteran Rennais goalkeeper was in sublime form in his team’s 1-0 win over Montpellier on Saturday. The 35 year old custodian made several saves to ensure his team’s slim lead stayed intact.

Christophe Herelle left the Allianz Riviera with a big smile on his face. OGC Nice started the new season on a strong note following a 2-1 win on Saturday. He opened the scoring for his side and Dante scored another one to ensure three points.

Sure-footed and calm, the Frenchman ensured that Les Aiglons were solid defensively.

Willy Boly might not be the most famous of French players plying their trade in the English Premier League but he’s a very solid defender. During the Wolves’ 0-0 draw with Leicester on Sunday, Boly showcased himself to be one of the most solid defenders in the league and ensured that the Foxes’ attacking riches didn’t affect Wolves’ plans for the start of the new season.

Aymeric Laporte should be considered one of the most talented French players in England. The young defender has fitted in seamlessly at Manchester City and has formed a good partnership with John Stones.

In the 5-0 whipping of West Ham, the France international was very positive and kept fellow countryman Sebastien Haller at bay while winning every aerial duel.

Lucas Tousart had a rather indifferent 2018/19 campaign for Lyon. However, the France Under-21 international had a good strong preseason which was evidenced by his performance in the 3-0 opening day win over AS Monaco. The youngster was committed to the cause and even got his name on the scoresheet.

Tanguy Ndombele has only recently joined Tottenham but the way he plays gives you the impression that he has been there for ages. The former Lyon man scored his first goal for the club in the 3-1 over Aston Villa.

Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United has been up in the air all summer but the Frenchman was in excellent form in the home game against Chelsea. The former Juventus player provided a sublime assist for Marcus Rashford for the Englishman’s second goal of the game.

While he was pretty much silent in the game, Pogba is one of those French players who can make a sudden impact and that’s exactly what he did.

Remy Cabella decided to sign for Kubin Krasnodar this summer and was the architect of the 1-0 win over Rubin Kazan.

Anthony Martial started the win over Chelsea down the left flak and got himself on the scoresheet after some good work by Lingard and Rashford in the buildup.

Andre-Pierre Gignac is playing in Mexico for Tigres where he has been scoring goals for fun. And the former Marseille man got himself a hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Necaxa.

Moussa Dembele’s a player whose star is shining brightly. Another in the latest of young French players touted to become major stars, the Lyon man scored a quick goal against Monaco and worked tirelessly till the end.
