Inter Milan flop Gabriel Barbosa could make a surprise switch to the Premier League after revealing his admiration for the English top flight

Although many have foreseen him a glittering future upon his €29.5m transfer from Santos to Inter Milan back in 2016, ‘Gabigol’ has miserably failed in his first season in Europe.

After barely collecting nine Serie A outings at the Nerazzurri, the Brazilian starlet went to Benfica in 2017 trying to revive his career. However, his experience in Portugal has turned out to be more disturbing than the previous one.

Therefore, the Italian giants have shipped ‘new Neymar’ back to his homeland back in January. In his second spell at Santos, Gabriel Barbosa has shined again, scoring 18 goals in 35 Brasileiro Serie A appearances.

According to the Sport-Italia, the 22-year-old forward has recently announced his desire to play in the Premier League one day.

“They are all important clubs with top quality players,” Barbosa said.

“Hopefully everything will be good for everyone if we reach an agreement. There are many things involved, mainly Inter, as they hold my rights. It hasn’t been decided yet, but it is very unlikely I will remain in Brazil.

“The Premier League always had great strikers and it is a joy to watch on TV. It is very competitive, fast-paced and dynamic, with loads of title contenders. There is quality everywhere, that’s why everybody loves it, and I am no different. It attracts me a lot.

“I follow the Brazilians, sometimes we talk, and all of them love playing in the Premier League.”

Everton, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United are all thought to be interested in ‘Gabigol’ with the Toffees emerging as the most likely candidates to secure his signature.
