Gary Neville has criticized Trent Alexander-Arnold for making too many defensive mistakes.

Ahead of their game against Manchester City, Gary Neville has taken a hit at the Liverpool fullback. Trent Alexander-Arnold is regarded as one of the best fullbacks in Europe by many. The 21-year old has started all of the Premier League games for his side.

But former Man United legend Gary Neville feels the defender makes too many mistakes in defense. He also said that it would be of great help to Alexander-Arnold to make a consequential error in a big game.

“I said that he (Alexander-Arnold) could have cost them the game against Tottenham.

“When Trent gives multiple chances away in big matches, he jogs back to his attacking position and it looks like it doesn’t affect him.

“It could benefit him to cost his team a big game. He needs that hurt in his face when he gives chances away. I don’t think he’s always tight enough to his center-back.

“I think Anfield is the ultimate test. Last season, level on points, Guardiola had a poor record against Liverpool. Everyone fancies Liverpool,” Neville said.

“Great teams have to remind people why they’re great teams. They will come here with the mentality that they have to win. I think Guardiola will have a different mentality today.
