Gasperini wants Atalanta to focus on one game at a time

The Atalanta coach says his team needs to focus on facing Napoli instead of thinking about the Coppa Italia Semifinal against Fiorentina.

The next two matches for Atalanta are very important, as the team enters the last part of the 2018-2019 Italia Serie A season.

Tomorrow they will pay a visit to Napoli in the national competition, while on Thursday they host Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia Semifinal second leg.

The first leg ended up with a 3-3 draw.

And for manager Gian Piero Gasperini, the opportunity to focus on Napoli has to be taken by his players.

“We must try to recover those points that we dropped against Empoli, starting from the Napoli game,” he told Football Italia.

“We know that we’re up against a quality opponent, but we have what it takes to do well even in a difficult arena like the Stadio San Paolo.”

“I expect Napoli to put in a strong performance, as they play good football and if you don’t defend with determination and organization, you risk losing heavily,” he said.

“The Coppa is very important for us, but so is Serie A. We cannot make distinctions between them and will give our all in every game. Having such a big fixture as Napoli can actually help us to not focus too much on the semi-final.”

Atalanta is currently in the sixth position of the table with 53 points, just three behind fourth-place AC Milan.
