Gennaro Gattuso says it is very difficult for everyone to cope with the implications of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Following a poor strig of results, Napoli sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti and appointed Gennaro Gattuso in December last year.

Under Gattuso’s leadership, Gli Azzurri managed to regain their form. Currently, they are on a five-match unbeaten run in all competitions, one of which was the draw against Barcelona, and have managed to climb to the sixth position in the league table.

However, Serie A recently suspended all its fixtures in order to combat the spread of Coronavirus. Schools, restaurants and all other public places have also been closed.

Gattuso has insisted that this change in routines will have a negative effect on people’s lives.

“We are experiencing something strange, which changes our lives and our routines. Mentally it’s very difficult,” he said, according to Football Italia.

“It’s impossible to go out in the evening or go to a restaurant. Schools and other services are closed. The government has closed everything, and people can’t leave the house.

“We are of the same flesh, of the same blood. This is a silent virus. Many are infected and don’t know it.”
