Gennaro Gattuso is hoping that the absence of fans can work in favor of Napoli in overcoming Barcelona at Camp Nou.
Napoli managed to hold FC Barcelona to a 1-1 stalemate in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 tie in Italy back in February.
The two teams will take on each other once again on Saturday with the hopes of booking a place in the competition’s quarter-final stage.
Barca have an upper-hand as they managed to grab a crucial away goal. However, they will also be at a disadvantage as they will not be able to enjoy the support of fans with the match set to be played behind closed doors as per the COVID-19 safety regualtions.
Gennaro Gattuso is not a fan of matches without supporters despite being aware of the ‘small advantage’ it presents for his side.
“Football without an audience is not football. The people give you a buzz, emotions, makes you feel the game more,” said the Napoli boss, as per Football Italia.
“Sometimes it can be good and sometimes bad for the home team, but the public is part of the world of football.
“Tomorrow, it will give us a small advantage to not have anyone in the stands, compared to coming here and find 90,000 people in the stands.”
