AC Milan’s Massimo Oddo recalls how Gennaro Gattuso got in the middle of a fight between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Oguchi Onyewu.
Massimo Oddo recalls how things came to blows one day between two of the team’s giants. Gattuso tried to sort things out and got caught smack in the face for his troubles.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, the story began with six-foot-five Ibrahimovic and six foot four Onyewu squaring off.
“They came to blows, but nothing excessive. Gattuso tried to divide them and took a very strong punch to the face.”
Gattuso was all business, and his crazy side would often show its head, especially if you didn’t follow his rules.
Oddo admits Gattuso was partial to dishing out some pain of his own to.
“Sitting at that table was me, Nesta, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Inzaghi and Abbiati.”
“He always laughed and joked, except before the matches.”
“Now I laugh, but before I cried because Rino one day stuck a fork in my leg.”
Gattuso is one of many legendary players who have turned their hand to management. Much like his style of play, the Italian is a no-nonsense boss too.
