AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has rallied his troops for the make or mar clash against Lazio this weekend, suggesting it’s a must-win game.
The Rossoneri are going through a rough patch that has seen them slide down the Serie A table paving way for other clubs to stake a claim for the fourth spot.
Milan’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus on Saturday further compounded their woes but Gattuso has urged his men to cut the excuses and step up their game against Lazio.

Against Lazio it’ll be a Final: if we want to qualify for the Champions League, we can’t lose. We need maximum points. We’ve been penalised at times by some errors, but it mustn’t be an excuse, neither for me nor my players. pic.twitter.com/ghNh6ujIG8

“Against Lazio, it’ll be a Final: if we want to qualify for the Champions League, we can’t lose. We need maximum points,” he said via Football Italia after Monday’s meeting between clubs and referees.
“It emerged during the meeting how more yellow cards were being shown and too many mistakes were being made, but right now we have to focus on our own work.
“We’ve been penalised at times by some errors, but it mustn’t be an excuse, neither for me nor my players.
“We played well against Juventus. Some incidents didn’t go the right way, but we must look forward.”
The loss to Juve completed a run of three defeats and a draw in their last four games, despite the free-scoring form of Krzysztof Piatek.
“It’s not like the others aren’t running,” he maintained.
“Kris is doing well. I hope he finishes top scorer, but for it to happen the whole team must run. We need everyone, including the defenders and midfielders.”
The match is poised to be one of the most keenly contested clashes in the Serie A this season with Lazio also eyeing a Champions League ticket.
