Coming off hot from 13 consecutive wins, Milan have definitely made an impression on the football world and Andriy Shevchenko was the next to praise their new coach – former player Gennaro Gattuso.
He showed appraisal for the team and their new manager, claiming they have turned things around since the replacement of Vincenzo Montella.
Despite a huge pre-season investment and signings of players like Leonardo Bonucci, Hakan Calhanoglu and Andre Silva, Montella couldn’t help to turn AC Milan’s dreams to reality, which lead to his resignation and Gattuso’s take over.
“He gave them their identity back, as well as a sense of belonging. He wants his players to be competitive and aggressive: he was like that as a player, so I’m not surprised,” Shevchenko shared, according to Goal.
“He’s someone who won’t give up even a millimetre. Rino’s not afraid of anything, he’s been given his chance and he’s taking advantage of it.”
“I hope he takes Milan to the Champions League next season, even if a derby between Dynamo Kiev and Milan wouldn’t be easy for me,” Shevchenko went on to add.
