Gerrard believes Aribo would be perfect for Rangers

The 22-year-old was playing for Charlton Athletic when the Scottish Premier League club hired him for the new season.

Former Charlton Athletic footballer, Joe Aribo, has undergone a medical to join Rangers as soon as possible.

And for Scottish Premier League boss Steven Gerrard, the 22-year-old is the perfect player for his midfield.

“There were a lot of clubs in for him around Europe and in the Premier League and Championship,” he told The Scottish Sun.

“I’m led to believe there was a lot of interest in him. So it may be seen as a statement of intent.”

He explained: “But, for me, it’s just another top player joining Rangers. I think this platform is perfect for him at the stage of his career he’s at.”

“He’s signing for a top club, it will be a big step up and I will be really interested in his development because I think there’s a lot more to come from him.”

“We are very confident we can turn him into a better player,” Gerrard added.

Gerrard is happy with new Rangers’ sporting director

The Scottish club has appointed Ross Wilson as the new sporting director and coach Steven Gerrard believes he will fill the void left by Mark Allen.

“He’s got a fantastic profile and you will see that for yourselves when you see him with your own eyes.”

“He’s very mobile and very dynamic. He can burst past a player and create and score goals,” he continued.

“There are still a lot of areas of his game where he can develop, but he gives us something we have not got in midfield. That’s the key.”
