The former Liverpool footballer says his decision to stay with the Reds was the correct one and he doesn’t mind not earning more money

English midfielder Steven Gerrard played in Liverpool from 1998 to 2015.

But there was almost one time when he considered joining fellow English Premier League club Chelsea.

“The most important thing is the final decision was the right one. Nine out of 10 people might argue I would have made more money, won more trophies, blah, blah,” he told The Irish Times.

Chelsea assistant compares Sarri’s era to Guardiola’s

According to Gianfranco Zola, the difficult time the Italian manager is having currently with the Blues is just like Guardiola suffered in his first season with Manchester City.

“But them people are not me. They’re not in my city and they don’t have that connection with my club. That’s why I’m the one in 10.”

“It’s a good word to use. But I’m not going to change. I will always wear my heart on my sleeve. I always want to be real, honest and authentic,” he explained.

“I’m not a good actor. I am who I am. If it’s not going to work in management I’d rather go down being me.”

“We’re in a nice position but there’s lots of hard work ahead. The challenge hasn’t got any bigger or smaller than when I walked in,” he said about the Rangers’ current position in the Scottish Premier League.
