The attacking midfielder has only appeared in 7 occasions with the Brazil U20 team but has never been called to the senior team

For attacking midfielder Gerson, the opportunity to play now with Fiorentina is important.

Not only he wants to have club success, but he is also aiming to make the Brazilian senior national team for the first time in his career.

“When I arrived in Giallorosso, the project specified that in my third year, I’d play the most. And Fiorentina can allow that to happen, giving me the possibility to chase my dream: the Brazilian national team,” he told Globo Esporte as reported by Gianluca Di Marzio.

“The expectations are the best possible. The group, the environment and the structure that I’ve found here will give us the support to do great things.”

“Other than the importance of the shirt and its history, Fiorentina can rely on very trustworthy leadership,” he continued.

“The experience in Giallorosso was sensational. I don’t think that my story there is finished, as I have a contract with Roma until 2021. I’m very grateful for all that the club has given me.”

“I learned a lot and I still have plenty to learn. The Italian league is defensive and tactical, there’s not much space to play,” he added.
