Olivier Giroud is staying at Chelsea for right now and while he is he will give everything for the club.

French forward Olivier Giroud is entering the last few months of his Chelsea contract. He was widely expected to leave this past winter. However, no move materialized and he stayed.

Giroud has been nothing more than a bit-part player this season under Frank Lampard. He thought that given the departure of Eden Hazard and the clubs transfer embargo he would be the first choice striker.

But Lampard opted to give youngster Tammy Abraham his big shot. The English forward seized the opportunity and Giroud stayed on the bench.

However, now Abraham is injured and Michy Batshuayi is showing he is not up to the job. Giroud has been given a temporary lifeline.

He came off the bench against United. Finding the back of the net, only for VAR to rule out his goal.

Now the world cup winner is adamant as long as he is at the Stamford Bridge club he will always give his all. He is committed to the team and the cause.

Speaking to the clubs official website chelseafc.com, he said:

“I’m a Chelsea player so now I need to move on and look forward.”

“I want to give everything for the team.”

“It’s a personal target for me to play as much as I can to play the Euros with my country.”

“Right now, I’m 100% focused on Chelsea’s targets.”

“I want to keep fighting to come back on to the team sheet and the scoresheet.”

“Every single game is a big opportunity for me to show my desire to do that.”

The fans might not have agreed with the call but Giroud admitted he got caught by a small margin.

He concluded:

“I scored a nice goal from a nice cross and I just tried to stay behind [Harry] Maguire but I was half a foot offside.”
