Time to talk about the rise of Olivier Giroud’s level for the French National Team, this might lead him to an early Chelsea exit next summer.

It was only a few years ago when people spoke about Olivier Giroud as a giant flop in English football, Arsene Wenger brought him to the Gunners and the club sold him to Chelsea after six years at the club.

The player always loved living in London, which is why he accepted the offer from the Blues and ignored others from different clubs because he was promised more minutes there.

The Frenchman’s performances weren’t as prolific as everyone expected, but his recent level of performance with the French National Team has given him enough leverage to convince manager Maurizio Sarri that he deserves a spot inside the starting XI.

People fail to appreciate the type of work that a centre-forward such as Olivier Giroud does for his teammates, this is a striker who always does outstanding work without the ball and attracts most defenders with his movements that give other players more room to maneuver.

Although it is true that Giroud didn’t score a single goal during the last World Cup, manager Didier Deschamps never imagines a starting XI without his striker because he learned to recognize his massive importance in the tactics.

Now that the forward has established himself as one of the important players for the squad, he can rest easy and get to keep scoring goals with less pressure on him.

The latest goal he scored with Les Bleus was very important for him to establish himself as the third all-time top scorer for France, only behind Michel Platini (41), and Thierry Henry (51).

All those critics who kept coming after Giroud saying that he wasn’t any good for scoring goals are now swallowing their words, we have a player who does so much more than only score goals and yet he keeps being underappreciated by manager Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.

The Italian boss decided to bring Gonzalo Higuain instead of giving Giroud a chance, which is something that the player didn’t appreciate and left him utterly disappointed.

Now that he has scored this very important goal for France, the striker needed to express how much he hopes that the Chelsea boss can give him a chance to play during the final stretch of the Premier League season or he will start looking for a new destination.

Giroud confirmed that he loves being at Chelsea because he loves London, but he also said that he wants to play more for the Blues.

During an interview after France’s 4-0 victory against Iceland in which Giroud scored a goal, the French striker spoke about the possibility of playing more minutes under manager Maurizio Sarri.

The player also spoke about the upcoming Premier League match against Cardiff City, which could be an ideal chance for him to play and keep that momentum going.

“At the club we still need to wait to see regarding if we will have the opportunity to get some players [in the next transfer windows],” said Giroud via The Mirror.

“If not the club will be blocked and maybe then they will need me more and to offer me something. I am very happy there, but it all depends on a few things so we will see.”

“The French media have made too much of some comments from me trying to push me into a move to Lyon.”

“I am staying objective, and if I can stay at Chelsea I will be happy – but I need to play more.”

“For now we have a very big game against Cardiff now at the weekend. There are only eight matches to go, and going for the Champions League places we will be trying to win all of them.”

“That will be the best way and give us the best opportunity to finish in the top four. But of course it is a huge game for Cardiff too, they are fighting to avoid relegation and will give it everything.”
