The final three nominees were named for the prestigous Golden Boy award and there isn’t any real surprise with Kylian Mbappe, Gabriel Jesus and Ousmane Dembele all making the cut.
There was a 24-man shortlist for the prize but, according to Goal, players like Marcus Rashford or Christian Pulisic didn’t make it to the final list. Kylian Mbappé continues to impress after being loaned from Monaco in the summer – and he was crucial part of Monaco’s team when they won the title last season and made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League. He is also expected to make a permanent move to PSG the upcoming summer for a fee of €160 million.
And to be said, there is another Frenchman on the list – Ousmane Dembele. The France international completed a giant move to Barcelona in the summer for €105 million and he was expected to replace Neymar at Camp Nou but he suffered an injury straight after this move. He hopes to be back in action early in 2018.
The third one on the list is Manchester City’s forward Gabriel Jesus. He has become a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven and he has made a huge impact since his arrival to Etihad. He has got six goals in his seven Premier League apperances so far and he is already considered on an equal footing with Sergio Aguero.
The winner, who will follow in the footsteps of Renato Sanches, will be revealed on October 23. To be said, Renato Sanches hasn’t been so successful since he won this award – he lost his place in the Bayern Munich squad and he was loaned to Swansea in the start of this season. We will see if anything will change after arrival of new coach Jupp Heynckes to Allianz Arena – but Sanches will be certainly given another chance to prove himself.
