Leon Goretzka is hoping Bayern can close the gap at the top of the table to compete for the Bundesliga title.
After nearly half the season has been played, Bayern Munich see themselves being bettered by a couple of teams in the race to the Bundesliga title.
With 33 points, Bayern fall four points short of the top spot and league leaders RB Leipzig. Interim coach Hansi Flick’s appointment has given them a fresh breath of air but it has clearly not been enough to put them where they had hoped.
If things stand as it is, Bayern will miss the chance to complete their eight successive title sweep. But Leo Goretzka feels the season has still got a long way to go.
As Goal reports, Goretzka insisted that they have not lost hopes and will try to capitalize on RB Leipzig’s mistake to take back the number one position in the league table.
“By playing a good game against Leipzig,” Goretzka replied when asked about how they plan to compete for the title.
“The season is still very long and there are still a lot of points to get. I don’t think Leipzig will win every game in the second half of the season.
“We have to collect our points and do our job. I think it’s realistic that we can still do it.”
