Bayern Munich will give their all to assure Chelsea don’t complete a comeback in the Champions League second leg, asserts Leon Goretzka.

Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnarby helped Bayern Munich grab a 3-0 lead over Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 at Stamford Bridge back in February.

The odds to proceed to the next round of the competition are heavily stacked in favor of Bayern. However, Chelsea do have a chance of redeeming themselves in the second leg of the tie, set to be played in the coming month.

Hansi Flick’s men last played in a competitive match on July 4 when they beat Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB-Pokal final.

Frank Lampard’s side, on the other hand, are still contesting in the Premier League as well as in FA Cup.

Leon Goretzka feels this lack of action will put his side at a slight disadvantage against their upcoming opponents.

“We’ve already had a great season, winning the championship and the cup. All our focus in on the game against Chelsea,” Goretzka told Bild am Sonntag.

“The good thing about such top opponents is that they have as much respect for us as we do for them. Chelsea has the advantage that they are traveling to Munich just after the season, while we want to keep up our rhythm.

“We will do everything to make sure Chelsea will not be successful again in Munich.”
