Antonio Conte and Inter Milan are planning a January transfer window swoop for Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud.

Giroud has been unhappy at Stamford Bridge since Frank Lampard took over.

He has seen his role at the club made into that of a bit-part player.

The French World Cup winner is playing second fiddle to Chelsea academy sensation Tammy Abraham.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Inter and Giroud have already had preliminary discussions.

It is understood, a salary of around eight million euros has been agreed, and that Giroud is happy to play as backup to Romelu Lukaku.

Lampard himself has acknowledged the player’s position and even said they will talk about his situation in January.

Lampard dismisses Chelsea’s chances of winning the league

Frank Lampard, in a report by Dail Mail, asserted that he does not wish to take part in the title race as it is beyond Chelsea's reach.

The Nerazzurri manager Conte already knows the player and they have a good relationship.

It was Conte that brought him to Chelsea from Arsenal and he is now planning a reunion.

He is not the only player that Inter is apparently after, they have also been linked with Dejan Kulusevski and Matteo Darmian.

They also harbour an interest in Arturo Vidal but that deal is highly unlikely.
