Granit Xhaka not looking to leave Arsenal

Granit Xhaka has denied rumors that he wants to leave the London club amidst strong interest from Italian Serie A giants Internazionale

Ever since he joined the club from Borussia Monchengladbach, Granit Xhaka has not really reached those heights everyone thought he would. The Switzerland international was once considered one of the finest young midfielders on the planet. Sadly though, things haven’t always been that great for him in England.

Nonetheless, Xhaka has been a regular starter for the Gunners ever since he arrived in England.

Despite inconsistent displays, Granit Xhaka has attracted interest from other teams in Europe. Reports in Italy claim that the Swiss is a target of Serie A heavyweights, Internazionale. The residents of Giuseppe Meazza are set for yet another spending spree this summer following the appointment of Antonio Conte.

Conte knows all too well about Xhaka’s abilities during his time as Chelsea manager and is looking for another dimension to his midfield. The Italian believes that Xhaka would add great value to the team.

However, Granit Xhaka has refuted claims that he wants to leave the club. The Swiss recently signed a long term contract at the Emirates and doesn’t want to jump ship so quickly.

While giving an interview to Swiss newspaper Blick, Xhaka said that he is happy in London and isn’t thinking about leaving.

‘Not that I know.

‘I have another four years on my contract, I only signed last year.

‘I’m happy there, my family too. That’s the most important thing.’

The player is clearly happy at the club even though he wouldn’t be a huge miss if he were to leave the Emirates. Unai Emery is already looking to raise funds to pursue other targets. And if Internazionale do cough up a decent amount of cash for the signing, the Spaniard wouldn’t mind selling the Switzerland international.
