Grealish worth every penny of £80 million

Former Aston Villa striker Darren Bent insists Jack Grealish is definitely worth 80 million pounds and that price will not put anyone off.

Jack Grealish’s future at Aston Villa is still somewhat up in the air.

The club captain is said to definitely be leaving if Villa is relegated. While there are also suggestions that the likes of Manchester United have already turned his head to bigger and better things regardless of what happens to his boyhood club.

The attacking midfielder is likely to leave the West Midlands club at some point in his career.

What appears to be the sticking point right now is his transfer fee given the current crisis facing football following the COVID-19 pandemic.

There have been talks of Villa demanding a fee in the region of 80 million pounds, which it is suggested has seen United put a hold on the transfer.

However, former Villa player Bent insists that Grealish is worth every penny of that valuation and he does not see it putting off United or any other suitor for that matter.

Speaking to Football Insider he compares the player’s value to that of world record defender Harry Maguire.

He said:

“Listen, Harry Maguire went for £85m, a world record fee, so you’d have to say Jack Grealish has had a better season than Harry Maguire.”

“He’s been absolutely brilliant.”

“£80m sounds about right, I don’t think that’s too expensive and I don’t think that will put off anybody.”

Bent is adamant that Grealish would have already been on his way for a top price if the season had concluded in its normal manner.

“I think if the season had finished normally he definitely would have left. There’d have been too much interest for him not to leave.”

If money is limited at Manchester United this summer, will Grealish be a priority or will the Red Devils spend that money elsewhere?
