Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele have returned to light training as Barcelona prepare to take on Napoli in the revamped Champions League.
Griezmann missed out on the final two games of the 2019/20 La Liga campaign due to a thigh injury, while Dembele’s last competitive action for Barcelona dates back to November 2019.
The French winger has failed to overcome his proneness to injuries since swapping Borussia Dortmund for the ‘Blaugrana‘ in 2017.
But, Dembele couldn’t have timed his return to fitness better, as Barcelona prepare to face Napoli in the return leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
The same goes for Griezmann, who has yet to reach his peak in Catalonia. His displays at Atletico Madrid are the best example of how talismanic he can be when he is at the top of his game.
That kind of form Barcelona fans will be desperate to see from the Frenchman when the ‘Partenopei’ arrive at the Camp Nou on August 8.
As reported per Football Italia, Griezmann and Dembele have been caught training separately from the rest of the squad recently.
News of the star duo returning to training comes as a boost to Setien’s injury-plagued squad, particularly on the eve of their clash against the Italian visitors.
After playing out a 1-1 draw at the San Paolo, Barcelona find themselves in a decent position to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
In fact, winning Europe’s most prestigious club competition could be the only thing to provide comfort to the Catalans fans after a frustrating La Liga campaign.
The Camp Nou side surrendered the league crown to bitter rivals Real Madrid as they stumbled out of the blocks on the back of the restart (W8, D3, L1).
