Antoine Griezmann could miss the rest of the season for Barcelona. He has been ruled out due to a thigh injury but it’s not yet known for how long.
Antoine Griezmann has handed Barcelona a blow as the Frenchman could be out for the season.
As confirmed by Quique Setien, the 29-year-old asked to be taken off in the first-half of their victory against Real Valladolid. The forward felt some discomfort in his thigh.
Barcelona have now offered an update on the Griezmann situation.
A report on the club’s website read: “Tests this morning have shown that first-team player Antoine Griezmann has a muscle injury in the quadriceps of his right leg.
“He is therefore not available for selection at the present time and the evolution of the injury will condition his availability.”
The report doesn’t say how long he’ll be out but Mundo Deportivo are claiming the Frenchman’s La Liga season could be over.
A realistic time-frame for Griezmann to resume would be just in time to feature in their Champions League campaign in August. A crunch second-leg fixture against Napoli awaits the Catalan giants.
Despite his 15 goals and four assists in all competitions this season, Griezmann has been subject to criticism a number of times.
