Antoine Griezmann is not at his best but can get there with more hard work as far as Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal is concerned.
French World Cup winner Griezmann has struggled to replicate the form he showed year in and year out at Atletico Madrid.
The kind of form that prompted Barcelona to pay out over 100 million Euros for his signature this past summer.
As far as Barcelona sporting director Eric Abidal is concerned, the player has the quality.
But it takes even more hard work and patience to adapt to the Barca way of playing football. This is something Griezmann himself has eluded to.
In an interview with Sport English, Abidal is confident that Griezmann will come good in time, and the player knows what he has to do.
“He knows it’s complicated to adapt.”
“Here the movements are different, but he’s a player that can add a lot and the coach knows that.”
“Griezmann is an intelligent player and the important thing is to know what you can add to the team in the position you are playing.”
Abidal knows what it will take to solve the problems Griezmann is having, but patience is needed too.
“The solution is hard work. Time will tell.”
“Top players have come here and not adapted in the first year.”
“You have to have patience. Barcelona’s philosophy is not that easy.”
