Antoine Griezmann reckons progress has been made regarding his new partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez following Barcelona’s 3-0 win over SD Eibar.
Griezmann silenced his critics on Saturday afternoon by pulling off one of his best performances in a Barcelona jersey. He looked much more at home alongside Messi and Suarez, and played a role in all three goals at Eibar.
The France international actually set things in motion at the Ipurua by scoring in the 13th-minute for his fourth goal of the campaign. He later set-up Messi’s strike to put Barcelona into a commanding second-half advantage.
Suarez then finished Eibar off just past the hour mark to seal a convincing 3-0 win for the Blaugrana.
“There will be better or worse days, but we are getting to know each other little by little and we will do more,” Griezmann told Movistar+.
The former Atletico Madrid star teamed up beautifully with fellow Frenchman Clement Lenglet to score Barcelona’s opener through a well-timed run.
“We knew that Eibar were pressing a lot above and I told Lenglet that, if he saw me near the sideline, he should put it long,” said Griezmann.
“He did so and went 0-1.
“It was important to win all three points because, after the international break, it is always difficult to come on away trips.
“It has been a good game and now we think about the Champions League.”
Barcelona now move top of La Liga until, at least, Real Madrid have played RCD Mallorca later this evening.
Ernesto Valverde’s men will next head out to Slavia Prague on Wednesday for a Champions League match.
