Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola announced that Benjamin Mendy faces another long spell on the sidelines ahead of Saturday’s game at West Ham
The French full-back underwent knee surgery in Barcelona this month after being withdrawn from international duty.
Now Guardiola has confirmed Mendy will be out for a long time, while Nicolas Otamendi returned to training.
“Mendy is 10 to 12 weeks,” Guardiola said on MEN. “Otamendi back in training and everybody else is OK.”
Mendy has since returned to Manchester in order to continue with his recovery.
The France international had provided City with five assists in nine Premier League appearances this season.
Another absentee for City this weekend will be playmaker Bernardo Silva after he was forced to withdraw from international duty for Portugal.
Although Guardiola didn’t rule him out for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Lyon.
“Bernardo cannot play this weekend, it’s not too big (an injury) but this game no, maybe next Tuesday,” Guardiola said.
