Pep Guardiola denies having any fresh injury concerns for Aymeric Laporte saying he is ready to play the full match against Real Madrid.
Despite being substituted in the middle of the match last night, Pep Guardiola has assured that Aymeric Laporte is up and running.
Manchester City had to fight very hard to snatch all three points from Leicester City as neither of the teams were ready to give up. It took until the final ten minutes and Gabriel Jesus’ introduction for City to scrape a 1-0 win.
After 57 minutes, Aymeric Laporte was replaced by Nicolas Otamendi. The unexpected substitution raised doubts over the Frenchman’s fitness who had just returned after a long lay-off from a knee injury.
But Pep Guardiola says has waved off such claims saying it is nothing to worry about.
“He asked me to be subbed,” he said as Daily Mail reports.
“He’s not injured. We cannot forget he has been out for four or five months injured. They run a lot, (Jamie) Vardy, Kelechi (Iheanacho), (Harvey) Barnes, they are all so fast. It was quite different against West Ham (on Wednesday) where they was only one striker so it was easier to control, but he’s OK.’
“Yes,” Guardiola replied when asked if Laporte was ready to travel to the Bernabeu to face Real Madrid.
