Pep Guardiola has urged to put a full stop on the comparisons between David Silva and Phil Foden.
Pep Guardiola has suggested that he will be delighted if Phil Foden could reach the same level of success as teammate David Silva.
Phil Foden was on fire during Manchester City’s 4-1 victory over Port Vale in the FA Cup, scoring a goal and setting up another. The 19-year old has put on sublime displays whenever he has stepped on the pitch this season and has drawn comparisons to David Silva.
But Pep Guardiola has urged the media not to put too much pressure on the budding midfielder. Guardiola has also lauded Foden as one of the best players he has ever coached previously.
“If Phil can have the career [of] David, it will not be really bad,” Guardiola was quoted by Goal.
“It is better for Phil not to be compared for that legend and an incredible player like David.
“But he is growing, in every game. His influence in the game is growing so he is playing in a high level,” he continued.
“But David won leagues and World Cups with the national team, playing millions of games, millions of assists. But for the age that Phil has the perspective is so positive.”
