Pep Guardiola says he would love to see David Silva extend his stay at Manchester City beyond his current agreement.
Silva penned down a new deal in November 2017 that would see him stay at the Club until the summer of 2020, at which point he will be 34.
But Pep claims he would love to see the deal extended further despite admitting it’s solely up to Silva.
“In this kind of case, it depends on the player,” he said via the club’s website. “For me, if he is fit and his performances are the same as this season, I’m more than delighted.
“It’s not easy to find around the world [a player like that].
“But I think they have to decide for themselves. At that age, your mind controls your legs and your desire and willing to stay.
“It depends on him.”
On the other hand, Guardiola claimed he is fully focused on winning his season’s FA Cup as they welcome Burnley to the Etihad for the FA Cup fourth round clash.
“The FA Cup is prestigious – not just in this country, everywhere– and I would like to go through,” he said.
“First year we were in the semi-finals against Arsenal and we could not reach the final, and last season was Wigan.
“So, Burnley at home. We are going to try and understand the game and play well. Try to play our game and go through.”
