Manchester City manager Guardiola has reiterated his desire to retain the Premier League title once again despite the pressure of a Champions League crown.

Ahead of the traditional curtain-raiser against title rivals Liverpool on Sunday, Pep emphasised on the need to further dominate in the domestic scene.

The former Barcelona supremo has tried to ease the pressure of winning in Europe in a recent press conference.

Man City denied fellow rivals, Liverpool, the chance of ending their wait for a Premier League crown just by a point in what was arguably the most keenly contested title race in history.

And even if the Reds ended up as European kings last season, Pep is once again ready to outfox his counterpart Klopp in another epic Premier League battle.

“To be remembered outside England, you have to win in Europe,” Guardiola told The Telegraph.

“It is an important tournament and difficult to win. But I am not going to go to the casino and gamble everything I have in my pocket on seven games.

“I want to be happy for 11 months and the Premier League makes me happy.

“Every game in the league and the cups, when we win I am happy after them. I go to a restaurant feeling better.

“Why am I going to wait until February for seven games and put everything on black? That is too risky.

“The Premier League is always the most important thing because it is every weekend.

“In the Champions League, many things can happen in one or two games and normally when you have the history behind you, that helps a lot.

“We will be closer to achieving in Europe when we have more Premier League titles. That is the nice process and the right process to do at Manchester City. But if I could take one thing now, it would definitely be the title.”

The Citizens are desperately hoping to end their wait for continental glory is this season while the Kopites are dreaming of title number 19.

Both groups will be willing to trade their success stories of the previous campaign this term.
