Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona might be considered the best teams in history and it was in big part to the talent of Argentinean footballer Lionel Messi.
And it was there where he met Argentinean footballer Lionel Messi.
“Someone from the academy had already told me there was a really good player coming through,” he said according to Marca.
“They told me he was really small, but that he scored a lot of goals and dribbled really well.”
He commented: “I met him one day with his father in the Nike store in the airport and I saw how small and shy he was and thought ‘could this be the really good one?’.”
“Then we started our pre-season in Scotland [after taking over as coach in 2008].”
“We were winning matches 6-1 or 5-0 and he was scoring lots of goals,” he said.
“I thought we’d win it all with him.”
“There wasn’t much time between matches, but we did construct a team. We were a group of friends that ate together a lot,” Guardiola concluded.
